manual language

the more we become a generation marked
by connectedness and an incessant need
to communicate,
the more we’ve become a generation afraid of becoming
more than strangers
to each other

and so it is, the sense of touch
gets shelved with other relics from a bygone era
like the penny-farthing, Morse Code,
the dodo

(Exhibit a: hug therapy
Exhibit b: touch therapy)

In this paucity of touch,
sometimes a treasure appears : a hand
Holding another

Saying
You are mine
